We find time for a few crafts during the holidays and these popsicle stick star ornaments were a big hit. I appreciated that we had all the necessary items already in the craft closet. These would make a great classroom holiday party craft, in fact I am already making a mental note for next year.
- waxed paper sheets
- 5 – craft popsicle sticks per star
- craft glue
- assortment of buttons
- twine or ribbon for hanging
- Lay out a piece of wax paper on your work surface. On it, lay out the star shape using the 5 sticks. It should look like this:
- Carefully apply glue where each stick overlaps and let dry overnight (or for at least 3 hours). In the morning you will have a star ready to decorate!
- Here is where the kids can have fun. Dot the star with glue all over. Then place buttons and decor on each dot.
- Let dry completely before tying on the twine or ribbon for hanging. My 4 year old loved decorating the stars, but older kids may easily be able to build and glue the popsicle sticks as well.
